Camino, 2016 - The Beginning

St. Jean Pied de Port

Anxious at the start,

it's one foot; then the other.

No expectations.

St. Jean Pied de Port is a lovely, French town just on the other side of the Pyrenees from Spain and the starting point of my Camino. It was here that I met my "Camino family", those with whom I would ebb and flow throughout my journey and on whom I would come to rely.  I wondered about the strength of my feet and knees, how it would feel to be away from home for five or so weeks, and how the north of Spain would differ from where I was accustomed. Although how I wasn't sure, I told myself that my fears and expectations would shift and morph as I went along. Although nervous at the start, I knew if I just put one foot in front of the other, one day would turn to two, then three.......and onward.
