Day 21, 2016 - Villacázar de Sirga to Terradillos de los Templarios

IT'S MY CAMINO

Riding on the bus,

I finally accepted,

it was end, not means.

This morning I was hurting; still limping. Despite my injury, I decided to walk the 6 kilometers to the next large town; then make a decision as to whether or not I would continue on to my day's destination or ride the bus. There's an unspoken belief among new pilgrims that it is not only important, but also necessary to walk the entire way to Santiago. Often, at some point a new understanding emerges. Because of a time element, an already planned itinerary or an injury, the thought that all kilometers must be walked shifts. It becomes more important that one arrives, not how one arrives. I bought a bus ticket in Carrión de los Condes and rode the next 25k to Terradillos de los Templarios where I spent the night among angels and monks, who helped me accept that it was my Camino and no one else's.
